Ok, i am thinking this all through in my head and typing as I go haha. Is it possible to change certain elements in the designer by just locating the id of an element within the source code, and then adding that style to the header code like I did for the background? Let me know if this is a possibility.by mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Ok, i figured out the background issue. Found that in another post. If you can figure out the spacing thing that would be awesome, but if not I may be able to just create a background image that kind of fills in the void like I want if you catch my drift.by mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Alex, I have not tried it yet, but I know you can change the background color of the designer page, but can we place an image as a background instead (called from my own server). Also, was wondering if there is anyway to adjust the spacing bewteen the designer and the buttons. I wanted to kind of seal it up inbetween and maybe create a seamless interface that connected it all together.by mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Here is my thoughts on what has just been said: 1. I do not think that this should be an open source program. The reason being is that it is like has been already mentioned, a very complex engine. I feel like we already have "open source" because if you ask Alex to provide a function, he almost always does it which is awesome. Why spend hours trying to figure something out when sby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
I really would be willing to come up with mockups of what I think a basic "out of the box" RTD should look like so that it conforms with today's web standards. I really think the biggest thing right now is the design of the cart inside the designer, then the checkout screens are really bad. I really do not think it would be hard to fix. Alex is mainly a programmer by nature so designby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
OK COS, I got the different options this time. The first time I used a link you sent me before and there was no option for that item so I picked a different item. I like what I see. I am wondering if I can work with Alex in creating a better looking checkout experience. Cos and Alex, check out my comments in the post about Magento addition to RTD.by mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Wow I had no idea that you could do that. Thanks COS. Then I could send them a custom e-mail once they pay.by mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
It looks pretty good, but I guess I am just not understanding why we just don't make the RTD payment screens look better. At this point in the game, this is where RTD really drops the ball and I feel like us as businesses are losing sales because the payment screens look so out of date. I know I would never purchase from a site like mine (sad to say, but it is true because of the payment screenby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Hey guys, Here is my response. I guess it still was not clear whether or not PayPal Pro allows you to customize an RTD page rather than a PayPal page coming up. Cos, I tried your site but it submitted it as a quote and I never saw any payment options. I am probably going to go with PayPal Pro, but just want to at least see a screen shot of it. I am also more than likely going to drop thby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Couple of questions: 1. Is there anyone still using PayPal Pro as a checkout option and does it still work without problems? What does it look like for a user when we are using PPP? How much can you customize it and does it ever reveal a PayPal page? Also, when someone begins to place an order, do they get an e-mail that says they placed the order, even before they paid? Mark, He's not asking if you can separate the background when you go to print, he is asking if you can have just the design in the photo in the cart and not the background. Answer - As far as I know, I don't think you can remove the background because everything I have ever done still shows the background. Basically, whatever shows in the designer, that is what you will see in the cart photby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
You could also maybe make a template for the users with the cut line on the top and make sure they place their elements under or within the border. Just a thought. That would keep the image in the design.by mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Thanks for the encouragement and understanding everyone. I am totally with everyone and this was not my attempt to make a quick buck off of this community or sell an ebook "that is only available today for $97" with a bunch of testimonials (we've all seen those). This was more just me brainstorming and realizing I have learned quite a bit from this forum and this community and from huby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Michael, Thanks for the input. As of right now, there has not really been a response so I am probably not going to do it. I just thought it would be helpful to have a manual if you are an apparel printer to get you setup in a proper manner. I have spent literally hundreds of hours on this designer trying to figure out the best way to set it up and figured a manual would be helpful. I realby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Southland, Fair enough and I totally understand what you are saying. The paying for it was more to compensate for the amount of time that I would be putting into it (Time is money, right?) I would be willing to maybe put together a more condensed version of it that could be free. Maybe more of the crucial stuff for the printing industry to get RTD to work properly. Let me know what you tby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Southland, One thing you could do - and this is what we do on mycustomhoodies.com and customink.com does this as well - is to have separate youth items. They can order from there if they really need to. It just doesn't work when they want to mix and match with adult sizes. I understand the issue. I am sure Alex will find a workaround.by mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Southland, By just making sure that there is enough branding in RTD. While it is not ideal, I believe it will work out fine. You just have to have enough consistency within your site and RTD so they are not left scrambling and thinking they are two different sites. Right now, if I view our designer in an iframe or not, it's not confusing in my opinion. Once I get all this done, I will shby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
As I am finishing up my second site using RTD, and from hearing many in the apparel industry having a hard time setting up RTD to work with their printing business, I was wondering if any would be interested in a very detailed e-book on how to properly setup RTD for your site. It would probably have to be a paid e-book with the amount of work I would punt into it (maybe around $20), but I believby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Southlandgraphics, We are just not offering youth sizes on this site. This site is specifically in the rock band merch niche and they are not really ordering youth sizes anymore so if they really need some youth sizes, they can just contact us. I think you are really gonna like what we have done with RTD on this site and think we finally have a working RTD for screen printing. We are a cby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Alex!!!! Wonderful!!! It changes it sooo much. I have implemented it and it looks great. Showed it to some users and they said it makes all the difference. They now don't feel lost and can visualize what they are looking for or even what they don't know they are looking for. Removing the tooltip is a great idea as well cause I believe it was just overkill and was just repeating and statiby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Mike, Great to see you around! In knowing now about being able to use HTML in many of the fields, this could really help a ton. Mike, I think you are really going to like what I am doing with the band merch site and I think we will have a working RTD for screen printing that is both usable and will spit out correct pricing. Getting about ready to launch it. I will make a post in the forumby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Alex, Thanks for the help, got it to work. My suggestion would be to allow both the thumbnail on top and the category name below, it makes the most sense. If you could get it to do that, it would be awesome. If you couldn't make that work, I could add text into the actual image to label it if I had to. All in all, this will really help the look of RTD. Thanks again Alex! Scottby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Alex, Great to hear from you and no rush on those things mentioned. Where can I input the HTML to style category labels? Would I do it in the actual naming of a category? Let me know as this is great to hear that I can change and also being able to have those thumbnails above the categories would be awesome. Thanks so much Alex! Scottby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Also, the ability as a style option to change the font size and color of the clipart categories labels would be so nice as well.by mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Alex, I am not sure if I am missing something, or the option is not available. I know you can assign an image to a clipart category, but is there the option to display that image above the link in the actual designer categories? As of right now, I have had several people say that when they go to add a clipart item it almost feels like a deadend or they are frustrated when they get to that sby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Alex, You are awesome as usual!!! I was not aware that this was the case since I disabled upload so it was something that I did to mess it up! This works great for now. Navigation for clipart and fonts could really use improvement right now, but this works really well for me as a fix. Maybe once I get this site up I can mockup some looks for each.by mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Buttons and image nav would be awesome, but I am ok with just simple links right now cause users have no idea how to get back to the main categories.by mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
I hope I am not missing something, but when someone is designing in RTD and goes into the clipart they choose a category. If they select a clipart image, when going back into the design popup, it defaults to the category they were in with no way of getting back to the main categories unless they do a search at the top or if they right click in the popup and click "back" (which most peoby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Southland, Not sure if you can see the pricing or not cause I did some changes when I was working on the pricing for both sides, but it should refresh in the next 24 hours if you want to see what the pricing looks like. As far as letting the customer not upload their own design, there is just too many problems with uploading artwork right now that we do not want RTD spitting out wrong colby mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
Southland, I was a little confused just looking at this, but it worked out really well. And I use the same formula for calculating the prices, so now all I have to do is enter in the price of the item for us at wholesale and that is it!by mycustomhoodies - General Discussion
