Two unit prices in cart using Ext Vars (Coupon Codes)

Happy 2017 all you RTD'rs.

Would it be possible in the cart to add another Unit Price that shows the "Normal" price along side the External Variable modified price? Possibly with a strike thru? Color value? And/or for Total Price also?

Two advantages to this.

1. To excite the sale with a visual of just how much customer just saved.

2. To reinforce that yes, the discount has been applied.

Sadly not in any easy way. The modifiers could be used for discounts, but are also used just to modify prices for a variety of reasons too. This means we cannot just assume the original price has to be shown in all cases.
Moreover, at a more technical level, modifiers are applied to all functions that are pricing related. This means that, to fetch also the original price, the calc routing should always be invoked twice, and this would impact the timing of showing prices in general.
