Registration Error Message

Alex,
We need to alter our registration error message to let people know that spaces are not allowed in usernames. Is that something easy for me to change?

Unfortunately that message is hardcoded. However what you say makes sense, so I can just alter it for everyone.

Current possible error messages are:
Error: Please use only letters or digits for the login.
Error: Please insert at least a 5 characters login.

Can you suggest how we might change those so that they'll look "effective"?

How about:

Please use only letters or digits with no spaces for the login.

Please use only letters or digits for for login. No spaces.

Please use only letters or digits for for login. Spaces are not allowed.

Please use only letters or digits for for login. Spaces, and special characters (@, &, *, etc.), are not allowed.

The space bar is the biggest culprit, but I have had a couple of people try to use an email address for a username..

I like the last one better, as it described the issue in detail.

While we're on this subject . . .

99 percent of users having problems logging in and contacting us for help is because they are trying to use their email as the login. What do think about changing the text "Login" to "Login (NOT email address):"? Or add to Text Labels?

Adding to Text Labels would be better, but there are some timing issues now for doing so. So I'm accepting your suggestions based on real world experiences.

And so, I now changed that label from "Login" to "Login (NOT email address)". Hope that will help a little!

Thanks Alex. Took me a minute to find it. From the customers perspective, it is the Login when customers actually Login that is my point. Although that one you added is quite sufficient for login creation.
